Mamelodi Sundowns striker Jody Ah Shene has returned to the University of Pretoria on loan, where he will look to secure regular game time during the 2026/27 season.
The 21-year-old forward, who was part of South Africa’s historic 2025 U20 AFCON-winning squad, returns to AmaTuks hoping to play a more prominent role under head coach Michael Loftman.
Ah Shene previously struggled for regular game time during Kwanele Kopo’s reign at the University of Pretoria and will now be hoping for a fresh opportunity to establish himself.
Fresh Opportunity for Jody Ah Shene at AmaTuks
The young striker remains contracted to Mamelodi Sundowns but will continue his development at Tuks, where regular first-team football could prove crucial at this stage of his career.
Having already experienced international success with Amajita at the U20 Africa Cup of Nations, Ah Shene will be looking to translate that experience into consistent performances at club level.
His return also strengthens Michael Loftman’s attacking options as AmaTuks prepare for the new campaign.
Siyabonga Mabena Expected to Join Tuks
Ah Shene could soon be joined by fellow Mamelodi Sundowns youngster Siyabonga Mabena, who is expected to move to the University of Pretoria on a season-long loan.
The 19-year-old attacker is yet to arrive at Tuks, but the anticipated move would provide him with an opportunity to secure regular senior football and continue his development away from the Sundowns first team.
Should the move be completed, AmaTuks would have two highly rated Sundowns youngsters in their attacking ranks for the upcoming season.
