Stellenbosch FC have officially confirmed the signing of 21-year-old goalkeeper Nathan Garrow on a permanent transfer from Auckland City FC.
The Cape Town-born shot-stopper has signed a long-term contract with the Winelands club, strengthening their goalkeeping department ahead of the 2026/27 season following the retirement of Lee Langeveldt and the departure of Oscarine Masuluke.
Garrow arrives in South Africa after attracting attention with his performances for Auckland City at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, where he faced the likes of Benfica and Boca Juniors.

Born in Cape Town, Garrow holds both South African and New Zealand citizenship and returns to his country of birth to begin the next chapter of his career.
The 21-year-old recently completed his studies in New Zealand and has spoken about his desire to reconnect with his family in Cape Town while pursuing his professional football career.
His arrival gives Stellenbosch another promising long-term option between the posts as the club continues preparations for the new season.
Garrow Impressed at the FIFA Club World Cup
Garrow made his mark on the global stage during Auckland City’s participation at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
After beginning the tournament as a backup goalkeeper, he was handed an opportunity following Auckland City’s opening match against Bayern Munich and went on to produce impressive performances against Benfica and Boca Juniors.
Against Portuguese giants Benfica, Garrow made 10 saves, keeping his side in the contest before eventually conceding from an Ángel Di María penalty. His performance put him among the standout goalkeepers at the tournament.
He followed that display with another strong performance against Boca Juniors, making six saves as Auckland City secured a memorable 1–1 draw against the Argentine giants.
Those performances significantly raised Garrow’s profile and helped establish him as one of the most exciting young goalkeepers to emerge from the tournament.
Could Nathan Garrow Become a Future Bafana Bafana Option?
Garrow’s South African citizenship means he is eligible to represent Bafana Bafana at international level.
At just 21 years old, the goalkeeper could emerge as a long-term national team option as South Africa eventually begins looking towards the next generation of goalkeepers.
