Marumo Gallants have confirmed the departure of eight players as the club continues to reshape its squad under new head coach Phuti Mohafe ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Among the biggest names leaving the club is Jaisen Clifford, who was a key attacking figure for Gallants and has since been linked with a move to Siwelele FC.
Marumo Gallants begin rebuild under Phuti Mohafe
Bahlabane Ba Ntwa appointed Mohafe following his impressive spell at Polokwane City, where he guided Rise and Shine to a top-eight finish in the Betway Premiership last season.
Despite Gallants securing their top-flight status with a 14th-place finish, the club has wasted little time in making changes as preparations intensify for the new campaign.
The eight players released by Marumo Gallants are:
- Lebogang Mabotja
- Washington Arubi
- Katekani Mhlongo
- Jaisen Clifford
- Bareng Ledwaba
- Edson Khumalo
- Siya Nhlapo
- Lucky Sithole
The Bloemfontein-based club thanked the departing players for their contributions during their time with Bahlabane Ba Ntwa.

“As you move on to the next chapter of your careers, we wish you every success and happiness. You will always be part of the Gallants family.”
Departing Gallants players secure new opportunities
Some of the departing players have already secured moves elsewhere or are being linked with new clubs.
Katekani Mhlongo has completed a move to TS Galaxy, while veteran goalkeeper Washington Arubi has returned to Zimbabwe to join CAPS United.
Clifford, meanwhile, has been linked with a switch to Siwelele FC following his departure from Gallants.
The eight exits signal the beginning of a significant squad overhaul under Mohafe as Marumo Gallants look to improve on last season’s 14th-place finish.
