Glody Makabi Lilepo remains at Naturena while the rest of the Kaizer Chiefs squad continue their pre-season tour in Spain, with uncertainty surrounding his future at the club.
The DR Congo international has not travelled with Amakhosi as growing interest from North Africa continues to fuel speculation over a potential departure before the start of the new Betway Premiership season.
Transfer Interest Intensifies
Lilepo has emerged as a target for several North African clubs, with Moroccan giants AS FAR Rabat reportedly leading the race for his signature.
The military club are believed to be prepared to offer more than $1 million (around R16 million), while Libyan side Al Ahly Benghazi have also submitted an official bid.
Chiefs Standing Firm
Reports suggest the relationship between Lilepo and Kaizer Chiefs has become strained.
The winger is understood to have requested a mutual termination of his contract, allowing him to leave as a free agent. However, Chiefs are reportedly unwilling to let him go without receiving a transfer fee and remain firm in their valuation.
A Deal That Could Double Chiefs’ Investment
Chiefs signed Lilepo from French side Valenciennes FC in January 2025 for a reported €500,000 (around R9.6 million).
The 28-year-old signed a two-and-a-half-year contract running until June 2027, with the club holding an option to extend his stay by a further season.
Following a respectable first full campaign in which he scored five league goals, Chiefs are now in a position to almost double their initial investment should a move to AS FAR be completed.

For now, Lilepo continues training at Naturena while his teammates prepare for the new season in Spain.
