Kaizer Chiefs have officially completed the signing of Tanzanian international Adolf Mtasingwa Bitegeko from Azam FC, with the midfielder becoming the first player from Tanzania to represent the Glamour Boys.
The 27-year-old joins Amakhosi for an undisclosed fee after establishing himself as one of East Africa’s most experienced midfielders.
A Historic Arrival
Bitegeko’s signing marks another milestone in Kaizer Chiefs’ rich history, as he becomes the first Tanzanian footballer to wear the famous Gold and Black jersey.
His arrival also extends the club’s long-standing tradition of recruiting top talent from across the African continent, with players from more than 20 different African nations having represented Amakhosi.
Experience Across Europe
Before returning to Tanzania, Bitegeko spent six seasons playing in Scandinavia, featuring in the Finnish, Norwegian and Icelandic leagues.
He returned home in 2024 to join Azam FC, where he captained the side and helped them secure a third-place finish in the Tanzanian Premier League last season.

In addition to captaining Azam FC, the defensive midfielder has also served as vice-captain of the Tanzanian national team, bringing valuable experience and composure to Nasreddine Nabi’s squad.
Chiefs will now hope the experienced midfielder can strengthen their engine room as they prepare for the new Betway Premiership campaign.
