New Orlando Pirates striker Sebastian Pedersen has explained why he decided to swap Norwegian football for South Africa, describing the move to the Buccaneers as a “once in a lifetime opportunity.”

The 27-year-old completed his transfer from Norwegian side Sogndal IL and has now shared the thought process behind accepting the challenge of joining one of Africa’s biggest football clubs.
Initial Doubts Quickly Disappeared
Pedersen admitted he was initially uncertain about making the move, but his perspective changed after learning more about Orlando Pirates and life in South Africa.
“This feels like a once in a lifetime opportunity. It’s such a big club that I couldn’t help but seize the opportunity when it came.
“At first I was a little skeptical, but the more I’ve learned about the club and life in South Africa, the more excited I’ve become. I’m very grateful that Sogndal came to an agreement with Orlando Pirates.”
The striker’s comments reflect the growing excitement surrounding the next chapter of his career.
Ready for the Buccaneers Challenge
Pedersen arrives at Pirates with the responsibility of strengthening the club’s attack ahead of the new Betway Premiership season.
Having built a reputation as a reliable goalscorer in Norway, he now faces the challenge of adapting to South African football while helping the Buccaneers compete for domestic honours and the CAF Champions League.
His first public comments also suggest he already appreciates the stature of Orlando Pirates and the expectations that come with wearing the famous black and white jersey.
Supporters will now be eager to see how quickly the Norwegian settles into life at the club as a new era begins under head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou.
