Kaizer Chiefs have officially strengthened their squad with the signing of Faiz Abrahams from Stellenbosch FC.
The exciting winger joins Amakhosi on a season-long loan, with the club holding an option to make the deal permanent at the end of the 2026/27 campaign.
His arrival comes after interest from several clubs, with Chiefs ultimately winning the race for one of South Africa’s brightest young attacking talents.
Chiefs Win Transfer Battle
Abrahams had been strongly linked with Orlando Pirates during the transfer window, with the Buccaneers reportedly pushing to sign him on a permanent deal.
Pirates even proposed a swap deal involving midfielder Kabelo Dlamini, but the move collapsed after Dlamini declined a switch to Stellenbosch FC.
Durban City also came close to signing the winger on loan before negotiations broke down after the parties failed to agree on personal terms.
Chiefs capitalised on the situation and have now secured the services of the 20-year-old.
One of South Africa’s Brightest Prospects
Abrahams has built a reputation as one of the country’s most promising young attackers.
Known for his pace, close control and ability to beat defenders in one-on-one situations, he played a key role in South Africa’s triumph at the 2025 CAF Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations.
His creativity and direct attacking style are expected to add another dimension to Fernando Da Cruz’s frontline.
European Experience
Before completing his move to Naturena, Abrahams spent the 2025/26 season on loan at Israeli second-tier side Hapoel Kfar Saba.
The move came after a successful trial in Israel, where he impressed scouts by scoring twice in a friendly while training with Maccabi Petah Tikva.
His performances earned him the opportunity to gain valuable experience abroad before returning to South African football.
New Challenge at Naturena
Abrahams also developed through the academy of Cape Town Spurs before joining Stellenbosch FC, where he continued his rise as one of the country’s standout young talents.
Now, he begins a new chapter at Kaizer Chiefs.
With Amakhosi looking to build a squad capable of challenging for major honours, Abrahams will be aiming to establish himself in Fernando Da Cruz’s plans and justify the club’s decision to beat several rivals to his signature.
