Orlando Pirates have strengthened their goalkeeping department with the signing of highly-rated 21-year-old Dublin Boon from Stellenbosch FC.
The young shot-stopper has signed a three-year contract with the Buccaneers as he begins a new chapter of his career with the Betway Premiership champions.
Boon Completes Pirates Move
Boon’s move forms part of a broader transfer agreement between Orlando Pirates and Stellenbosch FC, with his agency, 5S Sports, confirming the goalkeeper’s switch.
The deal brings another promising young talent to the Buccaneers as the club continues shaping its squad for the 2026/27 campaign.
Boon will now compete for a place in a goalkeeping department that includes established first-choice goalkeeper Sipho Chaine.
From New Zealand to South Africa
Boon holds both South African and New Zealand citizenship and spent part of his development in New Zealand.
He was previously on the books of Wellington Phoenix before making the move to South Africa in 2025, where he joined Stellenbosch FC.
His development since returning to South Africa has now earned him a move to one of the country’s biggest clubs.
Competition for Sipho Chaine
The arrival of Boon gives Pirates another option between the posts and adds further competition for places.
At just 21, the goalkeeper also arrives with significant room for development as he looks to establish himself at senior level.
Sipho Chaine remains an established figure in the Pirates goalkeeping department, meaning Boon will have to compete for opportunities while continuing his development at the club.
Three-Year Deal for Young Keeper
Pirates have secured Boon on a three-year contract, giving the club a long-term option in the position.
The move represents a major step for the youngster following his spell with Stellenbosch, while the Buccaneers add another promising player to their squad.
Boon will now begin life with Pirates as he looks to make his mark in the famous black and white.
