Orlando Pirates have officially confirmed the departure of Patrick Maswanganyi after reaching an agreement with Bahrain Premier League side Alkhaldiya Sports Club for his transfer.
The 28-year-old playmaker leaves the Buccaneers as a league champion and fan favourite after expressing his desire to pursue a new opportunity abroad.
Pirates Agree to Maswanganyi Transfer
Maswanganyi remained an important part of Orlando Pirates’ plans for the 2026/27 season, but his situation changed following discussions between the player, his representatives and the club.
The midfielder made it clear that he wanted to pursue the opportunity in Bahrain.
Pirates subsequently decided not to stand in his way, with an agreement eventually reached with Alkhaldiya Sports Club for his transfer.
Tito Leaves as a Fan Favourite
Popularly known as “Tito”, Maswanganyi established a strong connection with the Pirates supporters during his time at the club.
The playmaker became an important figure in the Buccaneers’ squad and contributed to a successful period for the Soweto giants.
Pirates paid tribute to his contribution when confirming his departure, describing him as a player who represented the club with pride and understood the responsibility that came with wearing the famous black and white jersey.
Departs as a League Champion
Maswanganyi leaves South Africa having added a league title to his achievements with Orlando Pirates.
Despite remaining part of the technical team’s plans, the club opted to respect the player’s ambitions after he made his desire for a new challenge abroad clear.
His move to Alkhaldiya now opens the next chapter of his career in the Bahrain Premier League.
