Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Edmore “Spanner” Chirambadare has returned to Zimbabwe after joining Castle Lager Premier Soccer League side Chicken Inn FC.
The move sees Chirambadare reunite with the Gamecocks following his departure from South African club Magesi FC, continuing a career that has taken him between Zimbabwe and South Africa.
Chirambadare returns to familiar surroundings
Chicken Inn is familiar territory for the experienced winger, who previously represented the club and made a name for himself in Zimbabwe before earning a move to Kaizer Chiefs in 2016.
His performances for the Gamecocks helped pave the way for his switch to Naturena, where he spent two seasons between 2016 and 2018.
Now back in Zimbabwe, Chirambadare will be hoping to use his experience to make an impact during another spell with Chicken Inn.
Remembering Chirambadare’s Kaizer Chiefs spell
Chirambadare arrived at Kaizer Chiefs with high expectations and was handed the famous No. 11 jersey, previously worn by some of the club’s most celebrated players, including Teenage Dladla, Jabu Pule and Knowledge Musona.
The Zimbabwean made his Amakhosi debut under then-head coach Steve Komphela and scored his first goal for the club during a 2016 Telkom Knockout quarter-final against Free State Stars.
However, despite showing glimpses of promise, Chirambadare struggled to establish himself as a regular during his two seasons at Naturena.
His latest move now brings him back to where his journey to South African football initially gathered momentum.
A new chapter back home
After his recent spell with Magesi FC in South Africa, Chirambadare returns to the Zimbabwean top flight with valuable experience gained throughout his career.
For Chicken Inn, the return of a familiar face adds experience to their squad, while for Chirambadare, it presents an opportunity to revive his career in familiar surroundings.
