South African winger Shandre Campbell has officially completed a permanent move from Club Brugge to Belgian side KV Kortrijk, signing a four-year contract with the club.
The 21-year-old continues his European journey after impressing in Belgium, with Kortrijk identifying him as a key addition ahead of the new season.
Four-Year Deal Confirmed
KV Kortrijk announced Campbell’s arrival on Monday, confirming that the South African has signed a contract that will keep him at the Guldensporenstadion for the next four seasons.
Sporting Director Nils Vanneste believes Campbell has all the attributes to make an immediate impact.
“We are very proud to welcome Shandre Campbell to KV Kortrijk. With Shandre, we are bringing in someone who brings a lot of creativity, speed and depth. Despite his young age, he has already gained experience in the Belgian First Division. We look forward to Shandre’s first minutes at the Guldensporenstadion.”
Reward for Strong Development
Campbell initially joined Club NXT before earning promotion to Club Brugge’s first team.
The South African forward enjoyed an excellent spell with the club’s U23 side, scoring 11 goals and providing three assists in 25 appearances across all competitions, performances that highlighted his potential for senior football.
The permanent move to Kortrijk now offers him the opportunity to establish himself with consistent first-team minutes in the Belgian top flight.
Following a Familiar Path
Campbell becomes the latest South African to represent KV Kortrijk, a club familiar with developing local talent.
Last season, the Belgian side opted not to activate the purchase option in Cassius Mailula’s loan agreement, sending the forward back to his parent club. Since then, Mailula has gone on to take a different direction in his career.
Kortrijk will now hope Campbell can make his own mark as they look to build for the new campaign.
