Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca are reportedly working to bring Thembinkosi Lorch back to the club just months after the South African winger completed a permanent move to Libyan side Al Ittihad Tripoli.
The 32-year-old joined Al Ittihad in January 2026, but Wydad are now pushing for a reunion as they strengthen their squad for the upcoming domestic and continental campaigns.
Wydad Seeking Lorch Return
According to reports, Wydad have made a formal approach to re-sign Lorch following his impressive performances in Libya.
The move comes despite the winger only recently leaving the Moroccan club in a deal believed to be worth around $1.6 million.
Wydad view the former Orlando Pirates star as a player capable of making an immediate impact and are eager to reunite him with the club ahead of the new season.
Successful Spell in Morocco
Lorch enjoyed a productive spell during his time in Casablanca, establishing himself as one of Wydad’s key attacking players under former head coach Rulani Mokwena.
One of his standout moments came at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, where he scored a memorable goal against Italian giants Juventus.
His performances made him a fan favourite and strengthened his reputation on the continental stage.
Strong Start in Libya
Since joining Al Ittihad Tripoli, Lorch has adapted quickly to Libyan football.
He scored the winning goal on his competitive debut before continuing his fine form with three goals and one assist in his opening six appearances across all competitions.
The South African also played a key role in Al Ittihad’s Libya Cup campaign, contributing both goals and assists during their run.
Another Career Twist?
Lorch initially appeared set to spend the next two years in Libya, but Wydad’s renewed interest could lead to another unexpected move.
A return to Casablanca would reunite him with a club where he previously enjoyed success and offer another opportunity to compete for major honours in both domestic football and CAF competitions.
For now, discussions are ongoing as Wydad attempt to convince Al Ittihad to sanction the South African’s return.
