Kaizer Chiefs have officially completed the permanent signing of highly-rated winger Langelihle Phili from Stellenbosch FC, strengthening their squad with one of South African football’s brightest young talents.
The 21-year-old has signed a long-term contract at Naturena following a breakthrough spell at Stellenbosch, where he established himself as one of the Betway Premiership’s standout performers.
Blockbuster Deal Finalised
Chiefs secured Phili’s signature through a player-plus-cash agreement with Stellenbosch FC.
As part of the deal, defender Given Msimango and forward Ashley du Preez have completed permanent moves in the opposite direction, while Amakhosi also included a cash payment to finalise the transfer.
The move brings one of the country’s most sought-after young attackers to Naturena ahead of the new season.
Reward for Outstanding Performances
Phili joined Stellenbosch in 2024 and quickly developed into a key figure for Steve Barker’s side.
Across 72 appearances, he scored 11 goals and provided two assists while helping Stellenbosch reach consecutive MTN8 finals and compete in back-to-back CAF Confederation Cup campaigns.
His pace, direct running and ability to create chances made him one of the club’s most influential attacking players.
Trophy Success With South Africa
The winger also enjoyed success on the international stage.
Phili was part of the South Africa Under-20 squad that won the CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations before representing the country at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile.
His performances for both club and country further enhanced his reputation as one of the nation’s most exciting young prospects.
